Situated 9 miles north of Alnwick in beautiful Northumberland, Doxford Hall Hotel and Spa is the perfect place to stay for a relaxing and luxurious holiday, short break or special event.
We have 31 bedrooms, 11 on the ground floor and 2 of these are accessible bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users.
All bedrooms have ensuite facilities and the 2 accessible en-suites have level entry showers with handrails fitted throughout.

Accessibility - Part 1 Accessibility - Part 2 Pre-Arrival Full directions and details of how to reach us are available on our website. The nearest railway station is at Alnmouth, 14 miles away. Taxis are available but should be pre-booked through the hotel. An accessible taxi is available but should be pre-booked through the hotel. Car Parking and Arrival Car parking is available for 120 cars with 2 designated tarmaced accessible spaces. The car park is well lit at night. There is a drop-off point at the main entrance and at a side entrance. There are 4 steps to the main entrance with a portable ramp available. The alternative side entrance provides level access where facilities are also available for registration. A porter service is available 24 hours a day to assist with luggage. Main Entrance / Reception / Welcome Area Reception is on the ground floor with 4 steps at the front door and a ramp is available. The floor surface is wood with rugs. The area is evenly and well lit with overhead chandeliers. There is a separate low level desk for check in. There is a choice of seating in the lobby area. A magnifying glass, pen and paper are available on request. Guests can be checked-in in the Morning room with level access from outside and to all public areas and ground floor bedrooms or in their bedrooms. A familiarisation tour is provided as part of the check-in procedure. Bedrooms There are 11 ground floor bedrooms, all providing level access to the bar and restaurant and lift access to the leisure and spa facilities. 2 of these are fully equipped accessible bedrooms with interconnecting doors. The first and lower ground floors are accessible by lift Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets (Ensuite or Shared) All bedrooms are ensuite and many have separate showers & Jacuzzi baths. All bathrooms are spacious and are fully tiled including the floors. The accessible bedrooms have main doors 94cm/37ins wide, bathroom doors 84cm/33ins wide. The bathroom sinks are 72cm/ 28.5ins high with clear space underneath and the toilet height is 48cm/19ins in the accessible rooms. Public Areas - Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors All public areas including halls, stairs, landings and lifts are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights. Corridors are 1600mm/63ins wide with short pile carpet There are two lifts with audio announcements and tactile buttons and the floors are short pile carpet. Public Areas - Lounges, Lobbies There are two lounge areas, the Georgian Room and the Morning Room both have wide access - min 1400mm/55ins. The Morning Room has level access and there are 4 steps to the corridor leading to the Georgian Room. Lighting is natural daylight with chandeliers and table lamps at night. The flooring is wood around the outside with short pile carpets. Afternoon tea, bar food and drinks are served throughout the day in all lounge areas. The nearest toilets are in the ground floor lobby area and include an accessible toilet. Restaurant/Dining Room, Bar & Bar area The restaurant and bar are both located on the ground floor with level access. There are no doors to the bar and the double doors leading to the restaurant are always open during service. The tables in the restaurant are well spaced apart with a clear height from the floor of 740mm/29.25ins with upright chairs. The bar area has high and low tables with tub and easy chairs. Table service is provided in the bar. Flooring is wood around the outside with short pile carpet. Lighting is natural daylight with a mixture of chandeliers and wall lights in the evening. The restaurant is table service for breakfast lunch and dinner. The majority of our produce is locally sourced and special dietary requirements can be catered for although prior notice is advisable. The nearest toilets are in the ground floor lobby area where there is an accessible toilet. Public Toilets The main public toilets are located on the lower ground floor with lift access. Additional public toilets including an accessible toilet are available in the ground floor lobby area and on the first floor. Separate accessible toilets are located on the lower ground and ground floors. The entrance doors are 87cm/34.25ins wide. The toilet height is 47cm/18.5ins. The sink height is 74cm/29.25ins high with plenty of space underneath. There are vertical rails by both sink and toilet. A flashing light when the fire alarm sounds. An emergency pull cord. The toilets are well lit with fluorescent overhead lighting and the lights come on automatically. The flooring is non-slip tiling There are lever taps on the sinks. All other public toilets have the same lighting and flooring. Leisure Facilities Leisure facilities which include swimming pool, two spa baths, sauna and steam room are located in the lower ground floor with lift access. The fitness room is located on the first floor with lift access. The pool is accessed via steps into the shallow end with rails either side. The fitness room has a range of equipment including, cycling machine, rowing machine, running machine weights etc and trained staff are on hand to provide advice and guidance. All areas are well lit with fluorescent lighting throughout. Flooring in the leisure facilities is non-slip tiling and in the fitness room is wood. Public toilets including an accessible toilet are provided in the leisure facilities. All of the leisure facilities are open 7 days a week from 7.00am to 10.00pm. Grounds and Gardens We have 10 acres of grounds and gardens with a mixture of borders, grass, woodland, ponds a maze and shrubberies. Access throughout is quite level and where there are steps ramps are provided. There is plenty of seating throughout the gardens. A wheelchair is available on request, free of charge for use with the hotel and grounds. Treatment Room(s) There are 5 treatment rooms including one double treatment room. These are located on the lower ground floor adjacent to the leisure facilities with lift access. All treatment rooms have level access and the doors are 81cm/32ins wide. The flooring is non-slip laminate. There is no natural light in these rooms. Lighting is generally dimmed and candles are also burnt during treatments. Conference and Meeting Rooms Our main conference room, the Kennedy Suite is located on the lower ground floor with lift access. There is level access throughout with large double doors. The flooring is wood. Upright chairs without arms are used and the tables have a clear space of 740mm/29ins from the floor. The nearest public toilets including an accessible toilet are located in the lobby area directly outside. Additional Information Our staff is fully aware of the needs of disabled guests and will assist as much or as little as required. Our evacuation procedures provide for assistance should you require it. A member of staff will come to your room and help you with evacuation of the building or to a refuge point. Room service is available 24 hours. Clear signage is used throughout the hotel. The nearest hospital with an A&E unit is in Alnwick, 8 miles away.
